New cover art update for Stolen Lives novel!

Dear Readers,

Let me reintroduce my first novel, Stolen Lives, now with an updated cover as of December 2021, created by BettyMar Design:

 Previously published in 2019, Stolen Lives is a modern fantasy story set in a a variety of kingdoms, including Tessa's home, Katenra. The story follows Tessa, who believes she is an average teenager, living in poverty, and striving to take care of her younger sister when her mother cannot. However, an encounter with a mysterious man, a sorceress, and a dragon, brings magical obstacles around every turn. Tessa must fight to protect her sister and reunite her family. 

Official synopsis for Stolen Lives: The fire took more from Tessa than she can remember. When a stranger barges into her home, she must fight to keep her family together. With magical dangers awaiting at every turn, Tessa will do anything to protect her sister even if it means battling a dragon.

I am very pleased with this new transformation from my previous cover art that I had drawn myself with coloured pencil, photographed on my phone and uploaded. This new artwork was completed on the artist's computer, in the correct colour printing settings, so I am very excited for this change! I am grateful to BettyMar Design for working with me to generate ideas for the cover art and their finished design is a fantastic reflection of the genre. I always planned to update my book into hardcover, and with the newly available hardcover editions on KDP, I thought it was the perfect time to relaunch with this new cover art that screams fantasy-meets modern young adult novel! 

I hope you like the new covers, because I am very excited! I was proud of my initial drawing for the first book, but it did not have the same appeal as the new, professionally completed cover art. Seeing the upgraded version is a great relief.

Poetry Infused with Nova Scotian places

 My published poetry collections tend to feature a lot of Nova Scotian elements, especially pertaining to the tides in the Annapolis Valley. Fashion Hobby and Characters

Art is something anyone can do without any expectations to be good at it, so while I share a few older pieces I created on paper and sewing, I hope you feel inspired to create as well. I use a template model for these drawings, and sketch it onto paper by putting the printed copy underneath, then I cut the designs to the shape I want and glue them in place on the paper model outline. This way I reuse the same templates multiple times. Below are some examples where I used calendar pages, scraps of mesh fabric, magazine cut outs and even hole punches to create funky fashion designs. As a kid, I loved playing with dolls and doing arts and crafts and sewing, so the combination of these activities led me to design dresses and cloaks for my dolls. Outside Activities

There are plenty of outdoor activities you can do as we approach spring and summer. Some of my favourites growing up and even now are: Kayaking:  You may already have access to a kayak or be able to rent them out from your local watersports and equipment places, so have a look around, because often there are more activities available at low cost without needing to own the equipment for your occasional use. If you are really committed, you can always stretch the budget to purchase something later after you have tested it out.  (photo of me kayaking, photographed by my mother) Biking: All you need is a bike and helmet. Many communities have bike rentals or lender bikes you can use, or you could use a stationary bike inside your home or at the gym for leg day. I prefer to feel the wind on my face in the fresh outdoors, however, in the winter, I used our stationary bike we had at the time while doing long readings for University courses.
