About the Author

Julia Coldwell was first published in 2018 for three individual poems titled: "Stars Apart", "Time Capsuled", and "Undercurrents" in an online journal, the Scene & HeardMedium as part of the journal's "Valentine's Day Challenge."

In 2019, she had three more poems published in The Athenaeum, the Acadia student newspaper. These poems were titled: "Foggy Serenity", "Dear Laughter", and "Abandoned". While her seventh poem, called "Valley Summers" was published in Estuary, Acadia's Creative Arts Magazine, under the "Creative" section.

Julia graduated from Acadia University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, minoring in Women and Gender Studies. She resides in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia with her family where she continues to use the landscape around her as inspiration for her poetry.

In 2019, Julia self-published her first novel, Stolen Lives, on Amazon.ca in both eBook and print formats with her own cover illustrations. Once Kindle Direct Publishing made hardcover formats available in 2021, Julia decided to update the cover across all formats and hired BettyMar Design for the new and improved Stolen Lives first book cover.

In 2020, Julia self-publish her first children’s book, Fred’s Friends Hold a Contest, containing her own illustrations. The same year, she self-published her first collection of poetry, Spoken Waves. In 2021, Julia self-published Captured Minds, the sequel novel to Stolen Lives. In 2022, she self-published a second poetry collection, Patches of Sunlight, which includes pictures. In 2023, she self-published Hidden Truth, the third novel in her Stolen Lives series. Her books are all available on Amazon.ca.

In her free time, between work, school, and writing her next book, Julia enjoys biking, camping, and swimming. She is also interested in various forms of art, including collaging, painting, and drawing which is convenient for self-publishing to design her own covers.

She enjoys creating art, listening to music, reading, and playing piano when she is not exploring the province with her family or spending time with friends.
