Fred's Friends Hold a Contest is a fully illustrated children's book by Julia Coldwell.

Official Summary: Fred the bunny is different from the other bunnies. He has two best friends who help him see that his own special talents are important.

I hope it spreads positive messages to children about their differences and coping in a world where they may find some challenges or struggles to fit in. The goal message of the book is about finding your own abilities and focusing on making those shine brighter rather than focusing on aspects of yourself you might find disappointing or comparing yourself to others' abilities. Differences are what makes up society, and this children's book is meant to share that in a positive and palpable way for young kids.

Poetry Infused with Nova Scotian places

 My published poetry collections tend to feature a lot of Nova Scotian elements, especially pertaining to the tides in the Annapolis Valley. Fashion Hobby and Characters

Art is something anyone can do without any expectations to be good at it, so while I share a few older pieces I created on paper and sewing, I hope you feel inspired to create as well. I use a template model for these drawings, and sketch it onto paper by putting the printed copy underneath, then I cut the designs to the shape I want and glue them in place on the paper model outline. This way I reuse the same templates multiple times. Below are some examples where I used calendar pages, scraps of mesh fabric, magazine cut outs and even hole punches to create funky fashion designs. As a kid, I loved playing with dolls and doing arts and crafts and sewing, so the combination of these activities led me to design dresses and cloaks for my dolls. Outside Activities

There are plenty of outdoor activities you can do as we approach spring and summer. Some of my favourites growing up and even now are: Kayaking:  You may already have access to a kayak or be able to rent them out from your local watersports and equipment places, so have a look around, because often there are more activities available at low cost without needing to own the equipment for your occasional use. If you are really committed, you can always stretch the budget to purchase something later after you have tested it out.  (photo of me kayaking, photographed by my mother) Biking: All you need is a bike and helmet. Many communities have bike rentals or lender bikes you can use, or you could use a stationary bike inside your home or at the gym for leg day.
